Rock River look to rebound in Clarendon Major League
GAYLE, Clarendon — Third-placed Rock River SC will have the perfect opportunity to rebound from their humiliating 0-4 drubbing by New Bowens FC at home last Wednesday when they play relegation-threatened Gayle FC in the Clarendon Captain’s Bakery Major League game at Gayle today at 3:00 pm.
Rock River’s chances of winning the title is very thin as they trail front-runners Milk River United and New Bowens (on 32 points each) by 11, but with six games to go would want to start a winning streak in case the big two slip.
And they would want to start by keeping their two-point advantage over Gimme-mi-bit FC with a win over Gayle, who are 11 points back.
In the corresponding first-round fixture, Rock River blanked Gayle 2-0 and are firm favourites to do the double, as their opponents have not won in six games and are also the second worst defensive team — having conceded 22 goals, while scoring nine.
In other games on today, Longwood tackle Young Strikers at Longwood, while Gimme-mi-bit host Sanguinetti FC at Gimme-mi-bit.
Tomorrow, York Town FC and Sunnyside FC will do battle at the York Town Community Centre.
