Hi-LYTE Sport Mixx Open Junior Tennis Championship this weekend
The second Hi-LYTE Sport Mixx Open Junior Tennis Championship will be held this weekend at the Liguanea Club beginning at 9:00 am. Play on Saturday will take place at the Liguanea Club and Tennis Jamaica courts. The finals will be held at the Liguanea Club the following day at 12:30 pm.
The tournament is expected to engage approximately 100 of the country’s junior players. The level of participation throughout the tournament is expected to give merit to the growing level of the support in Jamaica at the junior level and will address the overall aim of boosting the level of junior tennis islandwide.
The contestants will vie for trophy prizes in the categories boys 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18, and girls 12, 14, 16 and 18 and under.
In addition to trophy prizes, the winners in each category will also receive points towards their national ranking. These tournaments foster great incentive to the children as they encourage them to aim for top ranking in the junior points system.
Closing date for entries is this Thursday.
Tournament director Llockett McGregor sees tournaments like these as a motivation to young players who see tennis as a channel to excel both academically and physically. He is quite optimistic of the results and welcomes Hi-LYTE Sport Mixx to the world of junior tennis and trusts that they are just as excited as he and thanks them for their corporate thrust.
