Jamaica’s oldest sound system, Merritone Music is this year celebrating both their diamond jubilee anniversary and the 20th staging of their Family Reunion Homecoming soiree.

To mark these milestones, a year-long list of activities, which was kicked off with after Champs party at The Deck on March 28, has been planned to highlight this achievement.

“We are celebrating Merritone’s 60th year of delivering fabulous music — our Diamond Jubilee — and the Reunion’s 20th … a Platinum celebration,” reads a release from the organisers headed by the Blake brothers.

The Reunion will take place from October 13 – 18, 2010 at various venues between Kingston and Montego Bay at the Sunset Beach Resort & Spa hotel in Montego Bay (formerly known as Seawind).

This area is where all of Merritone’s events will be staged (nightly parties, day lime, fashion shows etc.) except for Michael ‘Silky’ Schloss’s performance, which will be included in one of the hotel’s night entertainment schedule.

There will also be a number of pre-Reunion activities headlined by the concert tribute to Cynthia Schloss on October 9, 2010, followed by Merri’s Return to Roots in St Thomas on October 10.
