Skills training
Dear Editor,
When I was leaving the UK in 2007, they were making vocational skills compulsory in every high school. Yet for some reason, promoting vocational skilled labour is considered demeaning in Jamaica.
On the streets many see it as slavery. This should not be so, and the HEART Foundation’s model is a good base to expand on.
We should provide for every Jamaican who has an interest in learning a skill. Proper courses should be taught and assessments done.
