T’People make winning start in third round
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Zone B leaders Tomorrow’s People kicked off the third round of the Claro St James Football Association’s Senior League with a 2-0 win over Salt Spring United at the UDC field on Monday.
After the first two rounds that were played on a home-and-away format in groups, the third round will be played on a cross-zone format, where teams from either group will play each other once.
At the end of the round the top two teams in either zone will advance to the semi-final.
At the UDC Field, Anthony McLeod scored in the 35th minute and Jermaine Cooper in the 55th as Tomorrow’s People won their league-high seventh game to improve to 24 points, six more than second-placed Fogo United, who were held goalless by Salt Spring Roses at the Albion field.
At Mt Salem, Granville City came from a goal down at half-time to draw 1-1 against the home team.
Peter Grant gave Mt Salem the lead in the 23rd, but Omar Hackett scored in the 87th to earn a point for Granville City, who stayed in third position in Zone B on 16 points behind Fogo United’s 18 points.
