Muschett, H’Morrison for girls’ b-ball finals
MONTEGO BAY, St James — UNBEATEN Muschett High will go into tomorrow’s ISSA/ KFC Western Conference high school girls’ basketball finals at the Montego Bay Cricket Club against defending champions Herbert Morrison High as favourites to lift the trophy.
The teams won their respective semi-finals at Herbert Morrison on Monday and will go on to represent the region in the national play-offs in Kingston on May 20th.
Top-ranked Muschett, who were unbeaten through the regular season, beat
Mannings School 57-39 while Herbert Morrison edged Spot Valley High 25-22 in a low-scoring game.
Andrene Jackson scored 20 points to lead Muschett to their win over Mannings as Loretta Gordon also scored 14 points and got six rebounds.
Shantal Gifford led Mannings with 19 points as the Westmoreland school trailed from the start, down 14-8 after the first quarter and 27-18 at half-time, and never managed to catch up.
In the second game, both teams struggled to score baskets as Herbert Morrison led 8-4, 11-5 and 18-7 after the first three quarters.
Sasheena Foster scored eight points to lead Herbert Morrison while Shauntae Brown got seven points, 11 rebounds and nine steals.
Sasheena Harding scored 11 points for Spot Valley.
