Preston take lead in TFA Div 1 league
BUNKERS HILL, Trelawny — PRESTON FC took over the lead in the Trelawny Football Association’s Division One league after beating former leaders and previously unbeaten Invaders 2-1 at Bunkers Hill on Tuesday.
Preston, who dropped out of the Major League two years ago and had to miss a season before returning at this level this year, improved to 13 points from five games, one more than Invaders and Jackson Town, and is the only team yet to taste defeat in the league.
Roger Samuels gave Preston the lead in the 45th minute but Rhys Young equalised for Invaders in the 67th minute.
Richard Hemmings however secured all three points for Preston when he scored in the 75th minute.
In another game also played on Tuesday at Friendship, the home team and Jackson Town ended goalless.
Two more games will be played today: Heatwave United against Bethel United at Bunkers Hill and Classic United against Wait-A-Bit PYC at Blackwin.
