STETHS face Glenmuir in schoolgirl conference final
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Defending champions St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) will this evening put their three-year unbeaten run in the ISSA/KFC Central Conference Schoolgirl Basketball League on the line when they face Glenmuir High in the final at Belair, starting at 2:00.
STETHS advanced to the final with a perfect record of nine wins for a league-high 18 points, while Glenmuir sealed their berth with 13 points after winning five and losing three of their eight matches played.
STETHS, who were pipped for the title by Southern Conference champions Holy Childhood last year, are odds-on favourites to extend their three-year dominance in the Central Conference, having recorded comfortable wins over their opponents in their two meetings this season.
The Santa Cruz-based school creamed Glenmuir 50-11 in the first game, but were made to work a bit harder in the second before taking it 39-26.
They will be looking towards top performers Cadeen McLean and Shanice Smith to lead them to victory, while Glenmuir’s charge will be led by Sherona Forrester.
Irrespective of the result in today’s final, both teams will advance to the national play-offs.
