Blooming Bloomers
Nothing finishes a little girl’s dresses better than bloomers, so that when they have their unladylike moments, which are quite frequent, these cute little bottoms show instead of their diapers or panties. Unfortunately, you rarely find dresses beyond size two with bloomers, so in this case you will need to Rock the Cloth and make some of your own in some basic colours. This is the same for school uniforms, that don’t come with bloomers, and this is the environment where they are most likely to get exposed, so here is how you can make your own:
o The best thing is to use a pattern which you can buy at most fabric stores. Unfold pattern pieces and place right sides together
o Sew centre back seams together. Sew centre front seams together
o Turn in waist seam one quarter inch twice and blind- stitch, leaving opening to insert one eighth inch wide elastic equal to child’s waist measurement
o Roll hems at lower edge and blind-stitch as you go
o Sew front and back leg seams together by beginning at one lower edge up and down to other lower edge
o If desired, sew a decorative edging stitch around lower leg openings
