JNA hit hard by KSAC fees
THE Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) has found itself facing some unexpected expenses from the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) as it prepares to host this weekend’s Supreme Ventures ‘A’ and ‘C’ League finals at the National Indoor Sports Centre (NISC).
The local league matches are usually held at the outdoor Leila Robinson Courts during the regular season, but as has been the case in the past few years, Supreme Ventures has requested that the finals be played on the sprung wooden indoor courts of the NISC.
However, the JNA’s CEO Sonya Hamilton told the Observer that unlike past years, the association will now have to pay the municipal body an extra $25,000 before the finals will be allowed to go ahead.
In addition to the discounted $300,000 fee the JNA must pay Independence Park Limited (IPL) to rent the NISC, they must also fork over an $15,000 Amusement Fee and $10,000 Advertising Fee to the KSAC.
She said the KSAC had also said the JNA must be granted permission from the relevant association for the sound system to be operated during the finals, as well as from the Ministry of Health, the Fire Department, and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM).
Job’s Lane United will take on GC Foster Strikers ‘B’ in the Supreme Ventures C League final at 3:30 today, with the ‘A’ League final between UWI Revolution and Jetsetters ‘A’ to follow at 5 o’clock.
