7 detained in Spanish Town police operation
THE St Catherine North police this morning detained seven persons during patrols in sections of Spanish Town.
Deputy Superintendent Peter Champagne of the Spanish Town Police Station, said the men were held in different areas of the town and are now being processed and questioned.
The senior cop said the aim of the operation was to target criminals who were behind a recent upsurge of violence in and around the Old Capital.
Cops said a deadly feud between two criminal gangs — the One Order and Clans Man — has resulted in several deaths, including two in the past week.
The cops are increasing their presence in the area in order to bring the situation under control.
