Harmony reclaim lead in Trelawny Major League
DUANVALE, Trelawny — Harmony FC are back on top of the Trelawny Football Association’s National Rums of Jamaica Major League after edging promoted Sherwood United 1-0 at the Duanvale playfield on Saturday.
Gardo Harvey’s 27th-minute goal was sufficient for Harmony to get the full points and move to 31 points.
Harmony, last season’s beaten finalists, had won the first-round game 5-0, but Saturday’s win pushed them two points ahead of Clarks Town, who were held 0-0 by Spicy Hill at Hyde after they had won the first-round game 2-1.
Holland FC stayed in third place after beating Dromilly 3-2 at Davis Pen on Sunday, as both teams finished with 10 men.
Ernesto Barrett of Holland and Marshall Miller of Dromilly were sent off.
Nicklye Webber and Collin James pushed Holland to a 2-0 half-time lead, scoring in the 30th and 44th minutes, respectively.
Three goals were scored in a frantic seven-minute span late in the game, as Omar Williams, who got a double for Dromilly, pulled one back in the 77th minute before Romaine Lewis scored in the 80th minute to restore Holland’s two-goal advantage.
Williams scored again three minutes later, but that was as close as Dromilly would get.
Duanvale followed up their first-round 2-0 win over Granville by edging them 2-1 at Duanvale on Sunday to stay in fourth place on 24 points.
Orlando Grey in the 15th minute and Lanceford Parkinson in the 30th minute scored to give Duanvale the lead before Omar Scott scored in the 40th minute for Granville.
Flames jumped two places in the points’ table from 10th to eighth place after beating Upsetters 1-0 at Carey Park on Saturday.
