NMIA win Business House five-a-side football rally
NORMAN Manley International Airport (NMIA) won their first Kingston and St Andrew Business House one-day five-a-side football rally and took home the Pronto-Porridge Mix trophy when they defeated National Water Commission (NWC) 2-1 in the final on Sunday at the NWC playing field.
Eighteen teams participated in this year’s renewal. NMIA and NWC clipped J Wray & Nephew and Gleaner Company 2-1, respectively in the semi-finals. In the final, NWC took the lead in the 29th minute with Kirk Edwards scoring. Garfield Sutherland got the equaliser in the 32nd minute. The game went into extra time and with a minute remaining in the match NWC goalkeeper Patrick Williams blundered by rolling the ball straight to Khari Caine, who fired past him for the winning goal.
The Western Sports-sponsored Business House Football League competition will kick off on Sunday with the dress parade and a double header at the NWC playing field, Mona, starting at 1:00 pm.
