Racers arriving for Caribbean Champs
THE teams of race drivers and motor cyclists from Guyana and Barbados will begin arriving in the island today and tomorrow for Monday’s Caribbean Motor Racing Championship at Dover.
Guyana has selected its best team ever to represent that country. They are champion Andrew King racing a Mazda RX 7, Mark Vieira a Mazda RX 8, Kevin Jeffrey an Evolution 6 and Paul Vieira, a Mazda RX 7.
Guyana is also sending two motor cyclists in the persons of Stephen Vieira, riding a Suzuki 600 cc and Maurice Menezes, riding a Yamaha 600 cc.
From Barbados are Mark Maloney in a Mazda RX 3 and Doug Maloney in a Audi Quattro.
All the drivers will be competing in the first leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) 2010 series on Monday, with qualifying on Sunday.
They will be racing against the best Jamaica has to offer in ‘King’ David Summerbell Jnr, Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore, Christopher ‘Bossie’ Campbell, Gary Williams, Peter ‘Bull’ Thompson, Peter Rae and Guy Fraser.
Canadian rider Kevin Graham will pilot a Yamaha 600 cc and American Randy Dyer a Yamaha R 6.
All these riders will be matching skills with Jamaica’s best Stefan Chin on a Honda RR, Adrian Blake on a Honda RR, Halquin Rodney on a Yamaha R6 and Dennis Chin-Quee on a Yamaha R6.
The local races will feature cars in the various classes Improved Production 45, Improve Productions 27, 33 and 37, and Modified Productions classes 1, 2 and 3. In these races will be drivers such as Peter Jaggon, Allen Chen, Kyle Gregg, Tedroy Burton among others.
