Tomorrow’s People inch towards semis
TUCKER, St James — Former champions Tomorrow’s People inched towards a place in the semi-finals of the St James Football Association’s Claro Senior League after a 3-0 win over Salt Spring Roses in their third-round cross-zone game played at the Tucker field on Monday.
Anthony McLeod scored twice in the second half as Tomorrow’s People improved to 27 points in Zone B and need just three more points from their four remaining games to secure a semi-final place.
Salt Spring Roses, who are stuck on 14 points in Zone A, were competitive for the first half which ended 0-0 and created the better chances, but had no response to the Bickersteth-based Tomorrow’s People in the second half.
McLeod scored in the 54th and 68th minutes, while Oraine Wilson also scored in the 80th minute.
Revelation FC returned to the top of Zone A on goal difference ahead of Barrett Town after beating Gully Ambassadors 2-1 at the UDC Field.
Andreas Nickles in the 13th and Gary McLennon in the 29th minute scored for Revelation FC, while Franklyn Allen had equalised for Gully Ambassadors in the 24th minute.
Meanwhile, Melbourne dragged themselves out of the relegation zone for the first time this season after beating Mt Salem 1-0 at Albion.
Trevan Allen continued his goalscoring run when he scored with a minute to go in the game.
The win, which was the second in a row for last season’s beaten finalists, moved them to 16 points and into fourth place ahead Gully Ambassadors.
