PJ Patterson impressed with Cricket Hall of Fame
MEMBERS of the Cricket Hall of Fame located in Hartford, Connecticut, recently had the pleasure of hosting former Jamaican Prime Minister PJ Patterson, who was in Hartford to be the keynote speaker at the West Indian Social Clubs 60th Anniversary.
He had expressed a feeling to visit the Cricket Hall of Fame while he was here. An ardent enthusiast of the game, Patterson said he was very impressed with the displays at the Hall of Fame.
Asked about his feelings of the present state of cricket in the West Indies, he said he was somewhat disappointed with the West Indies Cricket Board because he had written a report to help them and so far they have not used any of his suggestions.
He was also asked his views in regard to the Hall of Fame’s intention to induct former West Indies star batsman Lawrence Rowe, which they claim has been held up because of the ban that was laid against him after he toured South Africa during the days of apartheid.
Patterson suggested they should check with the WICB and promised he would try to get the present Jamaica Cricket Board, chairman to issue a statement in support of lifting the ban.
