Root House, Kempshot win again in Div Two
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Root House and Kempshot United scored their second win from as many starts on Wednesday as the first round of the St James FA’s Guardian Life Division Two competition continued.
Root House edged Montego Bay Cricket Club 1-0 at the UDC field to move to the top of Zone B with six points following their opening come from behind 2-1 win over Hart Street a week ago.
Charles Largie scored the winner for Root House in the 39th minute.
Delano Birch in the 39th minute and Kenroy James in the 79th were the scorers for Kempshot in their 2-0 win over Unity Hall at the Sam Sharpe Teachers College grounds in Granville.
Kempshot leads Zone C with maximum six points, three more than Unity Hall, Survivors and Youths United.
Survivors scored their first win after a 2-0 win over Youths United at Mt Salem.
Jeffrey Baltimore in the 34th minute and Terrence James in the 75th got the goals for Survivors, who have identical statistics to Youths United, who replaced Somerton in the competition.
Both clubs have won once and lost once, scored three goals and conceded two.
St James High, last season’s beaten finalists, opened their account in Zone A with a 1-0 win over Heights United at the UDC field.
Albion Youths took over the lead after a 0-0 draw against Norwood Strikers at Albion took them to four points.
Hugs United got their first win, beating Causa United 2-1.
