Windies lose again
THE West Indies turned in another hapless batting display to lose the first of five one-day internationals by 66 runs at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
Set a challenging total of 281 off 48 overs the hosts could only muster 215 all out of 44.1 overs.
South Africa’s innings was propped up by hundreds from Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers who both scored 102. Talented West Indian all rounder Dwayne Bravo took 3-40.
In reply the hosts never seemed up to the chase despite 45 from captain Chris Gayle and 44 from power hitter Kerrion Pollard.
The two teams will contest the second match on Monday at the same venue.
