Harmony extend lead in TFA’s Major League
BLACKWIN, Trelawny — Harmony FC extended their lead atop the Trelawny Football Association’s National Rums of Jamaica Major League after beating Dromilly FC on Sunday, while nearest pursuers Clarks Town were held to a draw in return-round action.
Harmony scored twice in the first half hour to win their 10th game of the season and improve to 34 points, while Clarks Town were held 1-1 by Duanvale and inched to 30 points.
Clarks Town had won the first-round game 3-0 and were expected to win again on Sunday and stay two points behind the leaders.
Lloyd James gave Clarks Town the lead after 17 minutes, but Orlando Grey equalised in the 34th minute to share the points.
At Blackwin, Harmony scored twice in the first half, Ricardo Reid in the ninth minute and Kenardo Wilson in the 28th, as they won 2-0 after taking the first-round game 3-2.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Collin James scored twice as Holland United scored a big come-from-behind 5-2 win over Upsetter FC at Davis Pen.
James scored once in either half as the former champions won their eighth game of the season to move to 29 points from 15 games and inched closer to second place Harmony.
In an explosive opening 25 minutes, five goals were scored as after going down 0-2 in the first 10 minutes, Holland, who had won their first-round game 3-1, hit back to lead 3-2 at half time.
Garrie Knowles in the eighth minute and Oneil Samuels in the 10th minute shot Upsetters into the lead, but James pulled one back in the 14th minute before Romaine scored in the 21st minute to even up the scores and Odean Morris gave them the lead in the 25th minute.
Despite the momentum, Holland had to wait until the last nine minutes to add to the score with James scoring in the 81st minute, while Odean Gallimore added another just before the end, in the 89th minute.
Flames won for the second straight game to continue their quest for safety, avenging a first round loss to Kinloss, beating them 3-1, moving to seventh place on 19 points, on goal difference, ahead of Spicy Hill, who have played a game less.
Metro Clarke gave Flames the lead in the 17th minute before Girvert Dixon equalised in the 63rd minute.
Goals in the final six minutes from Dwayne Duncan and Cadeen Haughton, however, carried Flames to their fifth win.
