Free Town, Harlem in Div One semis
FREE TOWN, Clarendon — Free Town and Harlem joined early qualifiers Spartan FC in the semi-finals of the FX Traders/Clarendon FA Division One competition following contrasting results in Group A quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Free Town edged past Comfort 1-0 courtesy of a 31st-minute strike from Andy Freeman at Bodles to qualify as group winners with seven points.
Harlem, who finished in second place on five points, advanced without kicking a ball as out-of-contention New Longsville FC did not show for their game at Turner’s Oval.
Harlem, who needed the win to qualify ahead of Comfort (two points), were consequently awarded three points and three goals.
They will now meet Spartan in one semi-final, while Free Town will play either Treadlight FC or Chatteau Progressive in the other.
Chatteau (one point), who were down to play Cockpit FC in a reschedule game yesterday at Wembley Sports Club, need to win by at least three clear goals to advance ahead of Treadlight (four points), who have a better goal average.
