JEAA Criteria: Part II
CAREER & Education continues its look at the criteria for each category of the Jamaica Environmental Action Awards (JEAA) this week.
Trees for the Future Award
A school which has made a significant contribution to tree planting through a sustainable tree planting programme in their school and/or local community which has had measurable success in terms of numbers of trees planted and survived.
The Best Environmental Community Award
A community group that has taken significant action to promote environmental protection; displaying active involvement in one or more of the following:
* Waste management
* Greening
* Water conservation
* Energy conservation
* Wildlife conservation
The group must also display:
* Member commitment to the environmental programme
* Evidence of commitment to the environmental programme
* Evidence of community involvement in environmental activities
* Degree of change and improvement in the community environment
* Participation of a wide cross section of the community in environmental awareness and action
The Wildlife Conservation Award
An individual or group that has taken action to protect endangered species through:
* Endangered and/or endemic species conservation
* Education and awareness
* Protected areas management
* Habitat conservation
