Revelation victorious again
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Zone A leaders Revelation FC and Barrett Town continued their battle for top honours in the St James FA’s Claro Senior League after scoring good wins in the third round on Monday.
A hat-trick from Andreas Nickles helped Revelation beat Abes Academy 3-1 at the UDC, while Barrett Town edged semi-final qualifiers Tomorrow’s People 2-1 at Wyndham, as both improved to 25 points.
Revelation FC, however, lead on goal difference and have played a game less than Barrett Town’s 14 games.
On Monday at the UDC field, after playing for 60 minutes without scoring, both teams exploded for four goals in a 12-minute period.
Nickles scored in the 60th and 70th minutes before Garfield Hall pulled one back for Abes in the 72nd, but Nickles completed his hat-trick in the 79th.
The loss, Abes’ 10th of the season, means they will be relegated at the end of the season as they are on five points and with three games to be played, cannot finish outside of the bottom of the table in Zone B.
At Wyndham, Lennox Whittingham in the 33rd and O’Brian Warren in the 59th scored for Barrett Town in their win, as Clifton Atkins scored in the 83rd for the Zone B leaders.
Salt Spring Roses inched closer to safety after a 1-1 draw against Granville City at Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College.
Clifford Guy gave Salt Spring Roses the lead in the 38th, while Andrew Allen equalised in the 47th.
In another game played Monday, Fogo United and Mt Villa ended goalless.
