Quest take early lead at Prep Champs
QUEST, after two completed finals, took the early lead with 18 points at the 40th staging of the BIGGA/JISA Inter-Prep Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium yesterday.
The three-day meet continue this morning at 8:30 with four more finals to be completed. These are the Class 2 girls high jump, Class 1 boys long jump, Class 1 girls high jump and the Class 1 girls long jump.
Following Quest in the combined standings are, Ardenne with 15.50 points, Vaz 14, Wolmer’s 11, Mona seven, Our Lady of the Angels five, Porter’s Centre for Knowledge 2.5 and defending champions Hydel, one point.
Meanwhile, Luke Walters won the Class 1 boys high jump with a leap of 1.45 metres. Demario Cameron of Quest (1.40) was second and Dameon Creary of Wolmer’s (1.40) third.
Christoff Pringle of Ardenne won the Class 2 boys high jump with 1.40 metres ahead of Bradley Dawson of Mona, 1.35, and Shaquille Brown of Quest, 1.30.
Jovan Brown of Wolmer’s will enter today’s semi-final of the Class 1 boys 100 metres with the fastest time of 13.19 seconds and is followed by Pacino Fearon of The Queen’s, 13.39, Brandon Brown of Harrison’s, 13.44, and Damani Sulph of Ardenne, 13.50.
Ayeshia Morgan of Hydel will lead the Class 1 girls 100m semi-finals with the fastest time of 13.66 seconds, followed by Renee Brown of Lannaman’s, 13.67, Danielle Lee of Quest, 13.75, and Athacia Parkes of Hydel, 13.94.
This year’s meet has attracted 52 schools from across the island with over 2,000 athletes on show. Making their debuts are Sacred Heart Academy, Little Angels and Valley Christian.
