Digicel spreads the laughs with Ity & Fancy Cat
TELECOMMUNICATIONS Company renews its sponsorship of the popular comedy TV show with a three-year contract
Digicel is sponsoring the popular Jamaican sketch comedy show, The Ity & Fancy Cat Show on TVJ for the third year. This season will mark the first of a three-year contract between the mobile telecommunications provider and the comedy show that is produced by Ellis International.
Digicel Head of Marketing Donovan White said that as part of the collaboration, Digicel had produced several skits specific to Digicel products and promotions, such as ‘All about Gimme Five’, in which the duo is portrayed as record company heads in a studio taking impromptu auditions for a Gimme Five jingle. Other skits include Taxi, ‘Signal’ and ‘Classroom’ and they can all be viewed on Digicel Jamaica’s Facebook page.
“It’s a pleasure to continue our working relationship with Ity & Fancy Cat, and in particular, to develop these skits,” White said. “As with all our activities, our support of culture and entertainment is largely driven by our recognition of the values of the people, our Jamaican family, and we know that entertainment and the performing arts are high on that list. This recognition informs our other cultural sponsorships such as the upcoming Reggae Sumfest, the annual Carnival/Bacchanal celebrations, and our own Rising Stars competition.
Ian Ellis, better known as “Ity”, expressed great satisfaction and tremendous gratitude to Digicel for supporting the group’s efforts to keep comedy on prime time television. “We are always glad for the support of Digicel in helping us to keep Jamaica laughing — especially now.”
As part of the arrangement, the beloved duo is also featured in new ad campaigns for Digicel, touting the company’s coverage and service.
