Seeing the Savannah
“The Carlton Savannah, Port of Spain, Trinidad… it’s where the queen stayed,” shared one of my closest Trini friends. Hmmm! My long fashion weekend was now a must.
Coblentz Inn, home of that wonderful dining establishment Battimamzelle, had been my refuge over the last couple of years but this latest, and from all accounts swanky, city boutique hotel promised a whole different experience.
I was not disappointed and have already planned the return trip. The staff, by the way, deserve special mention. Someone got the memo, read it and fully digested it and hired based on attitude, so eschew all thoughts of surly staff; from the housekeepers to the managers, all delight in offering warm and exceptional customer service. That said, the front office staff get two thumbs up.
Non-stop Superb! The Carlton Savannah is by the way (I reckon I now have your full attention) nestled on a mountain in Cascade, located minutes from downtown Port of Spain and adjacent to the Queen’s Park Savannah.
Brian Lara is a fan and whether it’s sipping bubbly at Rise, the 13-storey-high rooftop bar, people watching at Relish or having quiet time at the soothing Indaba jazz lounge, there’s something for everyone. SO takes you inside.
