SOUTH AFRICA 2010
PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) — A group of Argentine hooligans say they are in South Africa only to cheer for their team at the World Cup.
Some 60 “barras bravas” are staying at a school in Pretoria that has been converted into a hostel for them. While refusing to give even their nicknames, they told The Associated Press they have come to “eat, watch television, dance, have fun, and live a normal life”.
Earlier yesterday, 10 Argentine hooligans said to be planning acts of violence at the World Cup were deported to Angola after having been detained at South Africa’s main airport.
Argentine authorities say they have sent almost 700 files to South African police about known hooligans.
