Champions draw 1-1 in JustBet Business House 5-a-side opener
DEFENDING Division One champions Tank-Weld Metals and Division Two winners UDC played to 1-1 draw in the opening match of the 2010 JustBet-sponsored Business House Five-A-Side Football competition on Saturday at the NWC playing field.
Bryan Bailey gave Tank-Weld the lead in the 25th minute, but the promoted UDC got the equaliser in the 34th minute when Jerome Wedderburn’s powerful shot from 20 yards beat Waterhouse’s Premier League goalkeeper Richard McCallum.
Earlier, the dress parade ended in a tie, as judges Bryan Rose, Richard Nathan and David Henry could not separate Scotiabank Group and G4S after deliberating for more that half an hour. National Supply Company placed third.
This year’s competition will be sponsored by Supreme Ventures Sports Betting, using their new ‘JustBet’ sports betting game for the Division One and Two leagues.
Supreme Ventures Sports Betting will inject $714,000.
Meanwhile, Honey Bun will the sponsor the Knock Out competition to the tune of $337,000.
KLAS Sports Radio will be the official radio partner and they will provide live broadcast, interviews and updates during the season.
The competition continues on Mondays through Thursdays with eight matches each day at the same venue beginning at 6:30 pm.
