Kerron Stewart wins 100m at Montreuil meet
MONTREUIL, France — Kerron Stewart of Jamaica was victorious in the women’s 100 metres at the Montreuil meeting today, while compatriot Dwight Thomas won the men’s 110 hurdles.
Olympic runner-up Stewart pulled away in the last 30 metres to clock 11.21 seconds.
“We had a pretty hard headwind,” she told Canal Plus television. “But as long as I’m running fast and I’m staying healthy, I’m happy with that.”
Lerone Clarke finished second in the men’s event in 10.37 behind Dwayne Chambers of Britain who ran 10.27 into a strong headwind of 2.7.
In the 110 hurdles, Thomas edged David Payne of the United States by one hundredth of a second to finish in 13.37.
