Ffrench cops Super League MVP award
JODI-ANN Ffrench-Kentish was named the Most Valuable Player of the Berger/JNA Super League finals which ended at the National Indoor Sports Centre on Monday.
Ffrench-Kentish was the MVP in the first of the three matches played at the Leila Robinson Courts last Saturday where Tivoli squeezed out a close and exciting 42-40 win over defending champions JAMALCO.
Ffrench-Kentish was also instrumental in Tivoli “A” winning the Super League title with her long ranged shootings that paved the way from the first quarter.
Ffrench-Kentish walked away with a cash award of $5,000 and a trophy for being the MVP.
Elaine Davis of JAMALCO won $9,000 and a trophy for being the most accurate shooter in the league, while Janielle Fowler of Waulgrovians “A” took home $6,000 for being the second accurate shooter.
Meanwhile, Mico Netball Club which was playing in the Super League for the first time was awarded the most disciplined team and collected $10,000.
Both Tivoli “A” and JAMALCO each picked up a cash award of $9,500 for being the best defensive and offensive teams, respectively.
Coach Dawn Spence-Heron of Tivoli walked away with $5,000 for being the winning coach, while Winston Nevers of JAMALCO collected $3,000 as the runner-up coach.
For winning the Super League, Tivoli “A” walked away with $190,000 and a trophy; runners-up JAMALCO $130,000 and a trophy; third place Waulgrovians “A” $70,000 and a trophy and fourth place WINDALCO collected $60,000.
