Coaching Course heads to GC Foster
THE Advance Level 1 Coaching Course under the JMMB/JFF/UTech Coaching School goes to the parish level for the first time with the staging of the sixth such course beginning Monday, June 14 and ending Thursday, June 24 at GC Foster College.
The course is being staged in association with the St Catherine Football Association.
Over 30 coaches from clubs participating from Division 2 to the Super League levels in the parish of St Catherine have so far registered for the course.
In addition, four more coaches from the South Central Confederation have been sponsored by Juici Patties.
The course continues the policy of the JFF to standardise and raise coaching levels within the sport. The policy states that all coaches in the island must be registered with the federation to practise the profession in the country.
In addition, there are established levels for coaching. The Advance Level 1 or its approved equivalent is the requirement to coach at the primary, preparatory, Manning, and daCosta Cup levels, as well as Super and Major Leagues.
Since the launch of the school in January 2009, over 200 coaches have participated in the Advance Level 1 Courses.
Leading instructors involved in the school, Vin Blaine, Wendell Downswell and Roy Thomas, recently participated in a Football Instructors Course in Trinidad and are expected to bring the skills gained to the course.
Course topics include Fitness Development Theory, Technique Development, Anatomy, Sports Medicine, The Young Athlete, and Technical and Tactical development.
The Orientation Session for the course will be held at 9:00 am on Monday at GC Foster College.
