Prodigal stages Freedom Fest
Gospel artiste Calvin Whilby aka Prodigal, will host Freedom Fest, a rollicking fun day and gospel concert, scheduled for the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew and in May Pen on June 26 and 27 respectively.
“It will be three days after the limited State of Emergency is scheduled to be lifted and I know that people will want somewhere to go where they can take their kids and just have fun,” he explained to Splash.
It will be an all-day event with the fun day segment for the kids starting at 10 am and the gospel concert will begin at 6 o’clock.
According to Prodigal, he had hoped to stage an admission-free event, “but the recession still biting” and sponsorship dollar proved to be elusive. However, with assistance from mobile provider, Claro, the fun day will be free and the concert will see a nominal entry fee of $200.00.
Scheduled to perform at Freedom Fest are Prodigal himself, Junior Tucker, who has not performed in Jamaica in a minute, DJ Nicholas, Joan Flemings, Sandra , Sherwin , Shepherd and Claudius England.
Prodigal states that the concert will be a praise and worship celebration of freedom.
