Poor cartoon
Dear Editor,
I write in reference to your cartoon published on June 10, depicting the Rev Al Miller in bed on the telephone with supposedly another fugitive asking what to do or not. However, my concern is that the woman in bed with Pastor Miller is supposedly his wife, shouting at him.
The saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words,” is true. In essence, this picture is portraying his wife to be a boisterous and quarrelsome person, giving a very bad impression of the lady. This is way off the mark.
The person in question is one of the sweetest and most gentle persons you can find in Jamaica. In fact, when she is angry at something, she smiles. Have you ever wondered how Rev Miller has been such a dominant figure in the public eye for all these years but yet his wife is hardly seen or heard? Well, Sir Clovis, it is not because she is ushered into the background, but she chooses to stay out of the limelight.
I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you erred on this one as you do not know the facts about the lady or were told the wrong thing. Your cartoons are often amazing, but this one fell below the mark. Please step up back and try to be more accurate with your portraits. Respect.
