DIY…Mosquito Screens
Hands up if mosquitoes are about to move you out of your home…I know I’m not alone with this latest infestation of mosquitoes. What a nuisance!
Solutions are: you could spray (and choke on it), repel (and smell), Vape (and sneeze) and don’t even mention burning a mosquito coil (cough, cough, cough). Only one solution left, and that is to screen in. This may not be the most sightly option, but you can be smart and just make it a temporary solution, at least until the ‘skitos’ scram. The good thing with using screens is that you can leave your windows and doors open and let in fresh air, but block mosquitoes from coming in.
You can order them and be charged double the usual cost just because there is such an outbreak these days, or you could make them yourself, which can actually be fairly simple. For this you will need:
o Wood cut to the dimensions of your window and door frames
o Wire mesh
o Hinges
You will then:
o Join wood to make a frame
o Staple mesh tightly in place in corners and finish with tape or wood trim
o Add a handle for door
o Add hinges and mount to door or window frame
Once the pests have gone, you can simply remove the screens and fill holes with putty and it will be as if they were never there. At least right now, you will block the mosquitoes out of your home.
