Joey Issa elected chairman of PSOJ’s Petroleum Marketing Committee
Cool Group of Companies boss Joseph Issa was last week elected chairman of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica’s (PSOJ) Petroleum Marketing Committee, replacing the outgoing Winston Ormsby, who served for the past two years.
The Committee comprises petroleum marketing companies in Jamaica including Chevron/Texaco, Cool Oasis, Cool Petroleum Ltd (operators of the Shell branded stations), Epping, Gas Products Limited, IGL Limited, Jampet, Petcom, and Unipet.
Issa brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry. He entered the petroleum trade in 1995 with a single outlet of Cool Oasis, and has expanded the franchise to over 80 outlets today.
According to the PSOJ in a press release, as chairman of the Marketing Committee, Issa will lead the promotion of harmonious relations between government and the industry players so as to provide the best product and service to consumers. Along with providing information to stakeholders, including the government, industry leaders, consumers and environmental interest groups, the body is also responsible for cooperating with government in developing and advancing programs to benefit the industry.
Issa said in the release that “energy is one of the fundamental building blocks in any successful nation, making it important that we get it right.”
