* Stay tuned. Service your vehicle every three months. A properly maintained engine can improve mileage by up to four per cent. When was your last tune-up?
* Align your vehicle tyres and replace damaged ones to reduce your fuel cost and increase your mileage. Poor tyre alignment not only causes tyres to wear out more quickly, but also forces your engine to work harder.
* Keep gas tank capped. Improving fuel mileage is as easy as replacing bad gas caps. Many vehicles on Jamaica ‘s roads have broken or missing gas caps. Escaping fumes not only hurt fuel economy but also release pollutants into the air.
* Get back to nature. Consider shutting off the air conditioner, rolling down the windows and enjoying the breeze.
* Back off the bling-bling. Fancy sport rims may look cool but if they are wider than the stock tyres, chances are they’ll create more rolling resistance and decrease fuel economy.
