Bridgeport HS gets sweet deal from Honey Bun
BRIDGEPORT High School in Portmore managed to win the fourth annual Honey Bun School Dayz Rocks Tour by edging out runners-up Hampton School to sell the most Honey Bun products.
However, success isn’t new for Bridgeport, as they have already won the competition once before.
This year’s competition was sponsored by Ocean Spray CranWata, who handed out refreshments to the students, when Honey Bun showed up at the school recently to hand over their prize of four new desktop computers and a 27-inch Sharp TV, as well as a Dell Notebook for Principal Aston Messam.
While Bridgeport stole the spotlight, Damain Sturridge of John Mills Primary School deserves an honourable mention for buying the most Honey Bun products of any student islandwide.
Bridgeport High’s auditorium was filled to the brim with students, who were laughing and cheering as the visitors from Honey Bun, including director of marketing and business development Krystal Chong, sponsored competitions where they ate Honey Bun products, danced, and had a good time.
Several boys and girls battled to see whose stomach was largest in a cheese bun-eating competition for the ages.
In the end, Odene Clarke won the boys’ competition, before Amoya McCalla won the girls’ competition after finishing her bun and firmly declaring “Honey Bun” to the judge, an act met with roaring laughter from the crowd.
This was followed by a performance from the Nameless Dancers, four students, who battled in dance competitions against the Honey Bun Bear.
The Honey Bun School Dayz Rocks Tour competition was a success for Bridgeport High School for the second time in four years and the students hope to win for a third time next year when the competition resumes.
