LAST year, when some of Jamaica’s best party promoters merged their skills in marketing and promotion to create a unique party experience in Negril, it resulted in a great party experience.

For this year, those same promoters known as The Dream Team, have aligned with Heineken and Smirnoff to offer Jamaicans what will now be known as the Smirnoff Dream Weekend in Negril starting Friday, July 30, and culminating on August 2, Emancipation Weekend.

As expected, the organisers and sponsors have aligned themselves with some of the most exciting new entertainers in the industry, including Richie Loop, whose monster hit My Cupp has been dominating local radio and charts, and the Digicel Rising Star winner turned reggae star Chris Martin.

In less than a year Richie Loop has gone from producer to producer/entertainer and, in addition to My Cupp, he has also recently released another chart-bound song, Party Like It’s Your Birthday with D-Major and Busy Signal.

Ever since he won the popular Digicel Rising Stars contest a few years ago Martin has grown from strength to strength delivering a constant stream of smooth reggae songs, including Melody To My Song, She Never Listens featuring Demarco, Vibe Is Right as well as Real Friends featuring Agent Sasco and D-Major.

“Basically Dream Weekend is about entertainment and that is what we are promoting. That is why I got involved in the marketing of the event by using the artistes’ songs and images to promote both the parties and the artistes,” said Scikron Entertainment/Big Yard CEO Robert Livingston. Both artistes are members of the Big Yard family. “It’s a good joint venture to be involved in.”

According to Livingston, Richie Loops and Martin will endorse each of the parties, feature in advertisements for the Dream Weekend and their songs and dubs will be used to promote the weekend parties. Each entertainer has so far done two commercials with others to come.

The newly revamped weekend will see The Dream series of parties kick off with Smirnoff Flavours on Friday, July 30, followed by Twisted Spiritz that same night. Daydreams takes place on Saturday, July 31 with Yush capping off the party vibes that night. Xtreme Wet and Wild (Water Park) is next up on Sunday, August 1, which will be followed by Beer Vibes. The series comes to a rousing climax with Smirnoff Xclusive on Monday August 2.
