Selectors pledge support for festival songs
Last Wednesday, the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) hosted an exclusive reception for several of the island’s top sound selectors who were given a private introduction to entries in the 2010 CLARO Jamaica Festival Song Competition.
Among the selectors present were Green Synergy’s DJ Naz, DJ Razz of Razz and Biggy, Dutty Fridays Gary Chucks, Uptown Monday’s Boom Boom, CD Master and Supa T selectors Chubb Rock and DJ Snipa.
Before viewing the 2010 videos, the selectors were addressed by JCDC executive director, Grace Silvera and asked to support the competition thorough the playing of the songs and to make their contribution to development of ‘Brand Jamaica’ and the nation at large.
In response, the selectors pledged their support for the competition and commended the JCDC for its role in cultural development.
Having completed a series of road parties across the island, the Festival Song finalists will next be featured on the RJR Jamaica St Leger Race Day on July 10, the Little Ochi Seafood Carnival on July 11 and a series of lunch hour concerts organised by CLARO on July 16 and 23.
The Festival Song finals will be hosted on July 30 and will see the winner taking home a one million dollar prize package courtesy of CLARO and a brand new 2010 Nissan Tiida courtesy of Fidelity Motors Ltd, the richest prize package offered in the 45-year history of the competition.
