Smith, who is also on the boards of Mona School of Business, UTech Foundation, Cari-Med, Kirk Distributors and NCB Capital Markets, joins esteemed businessman and fellow Jamaican, Tony Chang, on the Digicel Jamaica board.
Commenting on his appointment, Smith said: “Digicel Jamaica holds a huge place in my heart. For seven years up to 2007, I was proud to be part of one of the biggest corporate success stories that Jamaica has ever seen. In my new role, I am looking forward to helping to ensure that our loyal customers continue to receive the best value, best service and best network, courtesy of Jamaica’s Bigger, Better Network.”
Mark Linehan, CEO of Digicel Jamaica, lauded Smith’s contribution to the development of Digicel and said he was delighted to be welcoming him back to the Digicel family.
“Having originally joined Digicel in 2000, Harry played a huge part in building Digicel into the fantastic company it is today. Now, with his guidance and insight, we are looking forward to the contribution his proven experience will bring to Digicel Jamaica. We are honoured to have him join our Board and would like to thank him for his commitment and loyalty to Digicel and to our valued customers,” he said.
