Summer-friendly Smoky eyes
The ‘smoky eye’ has been popular among women around the world for many years, and there are several variations of this edgy look. This week, Stacy Linton of Klub Klippers Beauty & Barber Salon shares with readers just how to create the not-so-smoky eyes that are perfect for the summer, yet subtle enough for daytime wear. Here’s how you can Get the Look.
You’ll need:
A light golden eyeshadow (for your brow bone)
Olive eyeshadow (for your eyelids)
Chocolate brown eyeshadow (for your eyelid creases)
Purple eyeshadow (for the outer corner of your eyes – this can be eliminated if you’re dark-skinned)
Dark brown or black eyeliner (depending on your complexion)
Two eyeshadow brushes
Mascara
What to do:
Step 1:
Dampen your eyeshadow brush, close your eyes and apply olive green eye shadow to your top eyelids. Be sure to avoid the brow bone and eyelid creases.
Step 2:
Use a paper towel to clean your eye shadow brush before applying chocolate brown shadow to your eyelid creases for contrast.
Step 3:
Use the same eye shadow brush to apply purple shadow from the outside to the outer corner of your eyelids (ie, from the tip of your brow to the centre of your eyelids – it should partially cover the green eyeshadow). If you’re dark-skinned, you may eliminate this step to ensure that the subtlety of the look is maintained, as the purple shadow might be a bit too dark.
Step 4:
Using the second eyeshadow brush, apply gold shadow to your brow bone (i.e., directly beneath your eyebrows) to highlight the overall effect.
Step 5:
Apply two coats of mascara to your top lashes, and line both your top and lower eyelids with the eyeliner to complete the look.
