Sakiya’s Jackson Sweet 16
On July 4, 2010, Sakiya Jackson held her Twilight Sweet 16 birthday party at 29 Derrymore Avenue. Accompanying her were friends and family members who came to share the warm evening with Sakiya.
Upon entrance TEENage writers along with the other patrons received a programme to give them a briefing on the evening’s setting and events. The décor was done by Mrs Butler, the venue’s manager, and her team. The theme colours were burgundy and white. To complement this, Sakiya and her mother, Venessa Baker, also sported elegant burgundy dresses.
To start the party off, Sakaya and her father, referred to as “daddy Jackson”, made their entrance. Upon their entrance everyone stood and applauded to show their acknowledgement. Brother Sinclair led the party in prayer, and he also took the time to bless the cake. Following this was the Happy Birthday song for the birthday girl.
After this everyone was seated and the MC, Courtney McKay, made his greetings and opening remarks. Some of Sakiya’s friends from Merl Grove High School, which Sakiya and her sister Shanice also attend, sang for her and gave their tributes.
Following this, her friends proceeded by modelling for Sakiya as a form of entertainment for the onlookers before dinner was served. The MC also made his tribute to the birthday girl by singing a chain of songs. Then there was the fun and games segment which Sakaya, her friends, and her family all enjoyed.
The time had finally come that everyone was waiting for, the cutting of the cake. Sakaya cut the cake with Stephaun, after she blew out the candles and made her wish. There was then the serving of the cake with wine, followed by the open toast.
To take the party to a climax there was the father-daughter dance, which paved the way for the open dance floor. To end the night Sikaya gave her vote of thanks.
