Get Miss Jamaica Universe Yendi Phillipps’ sun-kissed glow
We’ve been inundated here at Get The Look with requests about how to get our current Miss Universe’s sun-kissed glow. Well, after sitting with Miss Universe 2010 Yendi Phillips at the Spanish Court hotel over glasses of water and cups of mint tea, we can tell you honestly that her beauty is more than skin deep. The rest of her secret we gleaned from make-up pro Jeneva Whorms of Urban Beauty who created Yendi’s sun-kissed look for the Miss Jamaica Universe coronation show. Here’s how she did it:
What she used:
For Yendi’s glowing skin, Jeneva used Body Bling in Original. This is a glow-enhancing cream created by Jennifer Lopez’s personal make-up artist Scott Barnes, who is also credited for starting the ‘glowing, sun-kissed make-up’ phenomena.
For Yendi’s face Jeneva used the following products:
o YG3 Foundation by Makeup Designory (MUD)
o DFM2 pressed powder by Makeup Designory (MUD)
o Taupe basic brown pressed powder by Makeup Designory (MUD)
o Body Bling in Platinum by Scott Barnes
o Voodoo (smoky purple) and Chamois (nude) eyeshadows by Makeup Designory (MUD)
o Volumizing Mascara by Makeup Designory (MUD)
o Soft Peach blush by Makeup Designory (MUD)
o Black Cake eyeliner by Makeup Designory (MUD)
o Girlactik Satin eyeshadow (white shimmer)
o So Pretty lip gloss by Girlactik
How she did it:
Step one:
Jeneva first applied MUD YG3 Foundation and DFM2 pressed powder to Yendi’s face. (NB These are the colours that match her complexion).
Step two:
She then based her entire eyelid with the Chamois eyeshadow.
Step three:
After this was done, she then applied the coloured eyeshadows, working from the inner corner to the outer corner of each eye. Satin eyeshadow was applied to the inner corner of her eyes, and then Voodoo was applied to the outer corners.
Step four:
Jeneva then cleaned the eyeshadow brush and used it to fuse the two colours by brushing from the corners of the eye to the centre to create a fading effect.
Step five:
MUD Black Cake eyeliner was applied to her top eyelids and then smudged with a bit of the Voodoo eyeshadow to play up the smoky appeal.
MUD Volumizing Mascara was then applied to her lashes. She also highlighted the brow bone with Chamois eyeshadow.
Step six:
Body Bling in Platinum was then applied to the tip of her nose for definition and MUD basic brown pressed powder in taupe was used along the sides to contour the nose.
Step seven:
MUD blush in soft peach was then used on the apples of her cheeks to add a healthy glow to her face.
Step eight:
Jeneva then used So Pretty lip gloss by Girlactik on her lips.
Step nine:
A brush was used to clean off the area around her eyes for a great ‘eye-popping’ effect.
Step ten:
Body Bling in Platinum was used under her eyes (directly above the Soft Peach blush) “for an added lift”. Finally Body Bling in Original was applied all over her body for that perfect glow.
Helpful Hint:
Body Bling by Scott Barnes is available at Urban Beauty, so you too can get Yendi’s sun-kissed glow.
