Saturday Hustle – July 17
The Jamaica Observer Food Awards is on Thursday July 22, and so this week’s soundtrack is inspired by sumptuous fare… enjoy!
Coffee, Ce’Cile
From her Bad Gyal album, Coffee sees the sultry dancehall singer likening her man to coffee…a whiff, a taste and ahh! That’s the good stuff.
Rum & Redbull, Beenie Man featuring Future Fambo
Not too sure about this concoction, but it seems King of the Dancehall Beenie Man swears by it… in fact, the potation inspired his latest track.
Chicken Noodle Soup, DJ Webstar featuring Young B
This type of urban music originated in Harlem, and DJ Webstar made sure to mention this on the track. And doesn’t hurt, too, that there’s that catchy chorus: “chicken noodle soup, chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side.”
Milkshake, Kelis
Not too sure if the crazy-sexy-cool Kelis is talking about a lactose-laden beverage from the ice cream parlour, but it’s certainly a tune that’s worth every sip.
Dumplin Shop, Lovindeer
Dancehall’s chief satirist Lovindeer put a spin on the Kartel/Spice controversial Rampin Shop craze, which took the island by storm in 2008. His is a much more comical version in the vein of a Weird Al Yankovich tune.
Lollipop, Lil Wayne
The Cash Money maverick introduced listeners to his sweet side with his mega-hit with its heavy reliance on the electric guitars and synthesiser… the track was featured on the rapper’s The Carter III.
