Svelte Stallone: Sly shows off his new trim figure
Svelte: Sylvester Stallone looked noticeably slimmer when he appeared on the David Letterman show compared to how he did after he bulked up for Rocky Balboa.

Svelte Stallone: Sly shows off his new trim figure

He famously gained weight to play ageing fighter Rocky in the 2006 follow-up Rocky Balboa, but on Monday night Sylvester Stallone showed off his new trim figure on The Late Show With David Letterman.

The 64-year-old arrived for an interview on the chat show with wife Jennifer Flavin and their three daughters Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet. He spoke about how much he suffered with the weight gain to reprise his role as Rocky in the fourth film in the franchise. He said: ‘I did everything I could to get in decent shape. ‘

Stallone was appearing on Letterman to promote his new movie The Expendables, in which he stars alongside a host of veteran action actors including Arnold Schwarzenegger, 62, Bruce Willis, 55, Mickey Rourke, 57, Jet Li, 47, as well as relative youngster Jason Statham, 37. Talking about the film, he recalled a fight scene with wrestling co-star ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, which left him with a hairline fracture in his neck. The actor now has a metal plate in his neck and even showed Letterman X-rays of his injury. He said: I told him to crack me as hard as he can. It snapped my head back and cracked my neck. They had to put in some cadaver bones.’ But he admitted that he thinks the injury is a ‘good omen’ for the success of the film. He recently explained to Maxim magazine: ‘Every film I’ve done where I got injured has turned out great. Rocky II was 60 stitches; Rocky III was a concussion; the last Rambo was a bruised artery. Ones where I come out unscathed? Disasters!’

New 18-year-old Glee star gets Botox to look ‘fresh-faced’ for TV debut

Filipino singing sensation Charice Pempengco has had cosmetic treatment to get ready for her debut in the second series of the hit TV show Glee. The 18-year-old said she wanted to ‘look fresh on camera’ for her first appearance as a guest star on the musical comedy.

The 30-minute procedure was intended to make her ‘naturally round face’ more narrow, celebrity cosmetic surgeon Dr Vicki Belo said. Charice, in the same interview with ABS-CBN television, said ‘All people will be anticipating, how will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against [Glee character] Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure.’ Rachel Berry is played by actress Lea Michele, who at age 23 is five years older than Charice.

Charice, who shot to fame after appearing on Oprah Winfrey’s and Ellen DeGeneres’s US talk shows last year, will start filming next month. In an earlier TV interview, she said she auditioned for Glee in mid-June in Los Angeles and was thankful to have been accepted. ‘It’s really a blessing,’ she said, adding she was ‘very proud to be an Asian, very proud to be Filipino.’

Justin Bieber takes Sean Kingston for a spin in his new Lamborghini

Justin Bieber only passed his driving test three months ago, but the teen singing sensation has already gotten himself a car that most grown men can only dream about driving – a Lamborghini. Just to add to the envy quota it seems Bieber didn’t even have to shell out a penny for the car, as it appears to be a gift from his close friend, rapper Sean ‘P-Diddy’ Combs. Diddy had promised he would give Bieber his white Lamborghini as soon as he turned sixteen, although Bieber didn’t seem to take the rapper’s generous offer very seriously. Bieber told People magazine in March: ‘[Diddy] said when I turn 16 he will give me his Lamborghini, but we all know Diddy’s not going to give me his Lamborghini, he’s all talk.’ It seems Bieber spoke too soon as he was spotted driving around Los Angeles yesterday in a white Lamborghini. Bieber took the car for a drive with another of his musician friends, singer Sean Kingston, stopping off for some frozen yogurt along the way.

It’s certainly beneficial to have mega-rich friends in high places – in addition to the Lamborghini Bieber also has a Range Rover. The Baby hitmaker’s mentor, Usher, gifted him with a brand new Range Rover when he turned sixteen on March 1st.
