Little Ochie Seafood Carnival delivers
Patrons who journeyed from across Jamaica and overseas as far as Germany and Denmark, definitely got their fill of food, football, vibes and music at the 12th Annual Bigga Little Ochie Seafood Carnival. Little Ochie’s jerk fish was a mega hit with the crowd and the best seller at the event followed by garlic lobster and oysters. The “four man power” soup was also another hit and most persons on having one cup just had to have another.
Football enthusiasts were glued to all five televisions that were broadcasting the World Cup Football finals, while persons called before leaving their homes just to ensure that the game would actually be shown live at the event.
The evening’s line-up matched the great dishes served during the day with artiste Food Kartel asking for the “dutchie” to demonstrate why the dutchie is the best pot to use in cooking meat. He remixed many songs from well known artistes such as Gyptain, Vibz Kartel and Movado which held the attention of patrons during his entire time on stage. Tanto Blacks was another hit with his signature “Bluetooth, Twitteeeer”, while Bryon Lee’s Dragonnaires were the usual hit with Jumo leading the high energy group and whipping the crowd into a frenzye. The 10 Festival Song finalists were on location and performed their songs to an eager crowd.
Among the other artistes who contributed to making the evening a hit was 75- year old Calypso Rose who journeyed from Tobago to perform selections from her over 50 years in the music business. Brown Sugar, Gem Myers, Jimmy Riley and Macka Diamond also created sparks but the crowd pleaser was Beenie Man who joined D’Angel on stage for one song.
