DIY Play Mat
There are so many things that we spend a mini fortune on that we can easily make for ourselves, and a play mat is one of those things. They cost quite a bit and the cost is justified because they have toys attached to them, but you could make your own floor mat, to your size specifications, in your own colour scheme, and just let your children play with toys they already have.
These floor mats are great for babies because it allows them tummy time, helps them master the art of rolling over and keeps them entertained. The mat can then grow with them and can be used for picnics, lying on the beach, camp-outs and all kinds of other outdoor and floor activities.
To make the mat, you will need:
o Fabrics of your choice
o Batting
o Sewing supplies
You will then:
o Cut out an assortment of squares
o Lay squares on a flat surface to create a pattern you like
o Pin them together when you’ve made desirable pattern and then stitch them together
o Repeat this for both sides
o Join back to front at sides, leaving one side open to insert batting
o Insert batting and stitch shut
And there, as easy as that you have your own mat.
