Summerbell Jnr is fastest in Dover qualifiers
DOVER, St Ann — David Summerbell Jnr will hit the Dover Raceway in pole position today after clocking the fastest time yesterday in the qualifiers of the 1.6-mile 12-corner circuit in 1 minute 20.380 seconds in his Mitsubishi Evolution 8 in the Thunder sport category.
Today’s ‘Sweet Revenge’ at Dover begins at 9:00 am with the gates opening from 7:00 am.
Summerbell Jnr was closely followed in yesterday’s qualifying by Mathew Gore in his Mitsubishi Evolution 5 (1 minute 21.922 seconds) and Gary Williams driving a Mitsubishi Evolution 6.5 (1 minute 27.552 seconds).
In the IP27, Charles Maxwell leads with 1 minute 27.612 seconds driving a Mitsubishi Evolution 6, closely followed by Charles Chen (Mitsubishi Evolution) in 1 minute 28.660 seconds and Tedroy Burton (Honda Civic) in 1 minute 28.747 seconds.
In the IP37, Henry Rainford leads driving a Honda Civic with 1 minute 37.452 seconds; Troy Riley (Honda CRX with 1 minute 37.717 seconds) comes next, followed by Raymond Donaldson (Mitsubishi Evolution 4 in 1 minute 37.876 seconds).
Christopher Chok leads in the IT33 driving a Honda Civic with 1 minute 34.653 seconds; Dean Corrodus in his Honda C5R (1 minute 36.792 seconds) is next, followed by Heath Causwell aboard his Mitsubishi Mirage (1 minute 37.278 seconds).
In the IP 45 that is divided into two classes, the turbo and non-turbo, Nigel Thomas driving a Mitsubishi Evolution, leads with 1 minute 46.276 seconds ahead of Don Thompson in his Subaru SBI (1 minute 46.358) and Orville Villiers (Honda Civic) in 1 minute 49.054 seconds; while in the non-turbo Jason McPherson (Honda Integra) leads with 1 minute 45.519, Patrick Ricketts (Nissan Wagon) with 1 minute 46.823 seconds and Robin Sutherland (Honda Civic) with 1 minute 50.329 seconds, come next.
Andrew Norman leads the motorcyclists on his Honda PR in 1 minute 31.150 seconds, Greg Cross (Suzuki) 1 minute 31.429 seconds and Randy Dyer (Yamaha) 1 minute 32.728 seconds are next best.
There are three categories in the Modified Production and in Class 3, with Doug Gore driving his Mitsubishi Evolution 10 in 1 minute 38.956 seconds to lead Class 2 Peter Jagon 1 minute 38.972, Heat Causwell, 1 minute 40.101 seconds, Andre Anderson, 1 minute 40.811 seconds, and CLASS 3 Bryan Foster, 1 minute 46.042, Gary Barrett, 1 minute 47.791, and Henry Rainford 1 minute 48.410 seconds.
