Clarendon join St Catherine in U-13 play-offs
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Dethrone champions Clarendon joined new title holders St Catherine in the JFF National Under-13 play-offs following a 4-0 blanking of Manchester at the West Park Community Centre, as the Juici Patties South Central Confederation competition ended last Saturday.
Ricardo Dennis (fifth and 27th), Tafari Douglas (55th) and Creggton Charlton (60th) were on target to earn Clarendon the final qualifying spot on eight points — two more than Manchester, who needed only a point to go through.
In the other game at the Spanish Town Prison Oval, St Catherine defeated St Elizabeth 2-0 to finish on 13 points atop the table.
Meanwhile, in the Under-15 competition, St Catherine ended unbeaten after slamming St Elizabeth 4-0 in the second game of the Prison Oval double-header.
They ended the competition scoring a league-high 14 goals with one against on 16 points — five more than Clarendon (11), who routed Manchester 5-0.
Ismale Currie hit the net twice for Clarendon in the 26th and 72nd minutes, while Randall Razin (38th), Romane Sherman (43rd) and Xahne Reid (54th) added to the tally.
St Catherine will now meet the second-placed team from the Eastern Confederation with Clarendon playing the winners in a two-way tie.
