DJs reaching new heights with Heineken Green Synergy
HEINEKEN Green Synergy has been playing an integral role in providing a platform where young aspiring DJs can showcase their talent to take their careers to the ‘next level’.
Now in its eighth season, Heineken Green Synergy provides exposure to entrants and experience to past winners who have moved on to establish themselves as top local DJs. The show has also provided job opportunities both locally and on the international scene.
The exposure apart, Heineken Green Synergy is also geared towards helping the DJs develop their skills and be better equipped to play at premium events.
Past winners such as DJ Inferno (the first champion) along with DJ Denvo, DJ Nicco and DJ Kevin have found employment at one of the top local radio stations, FAME FM.
FAME FM, a long-standing sponsor of the event, offers an internship for Heineken Green Synergy winners.
DJ Jigga, the 2008 winner, has been working on Lynkz FM in Westmoreland, while most recently DJ Jagga, the 2009 winner, has been recruited by the Kingston-based radio station, Bess FM.
DJ David, the 2007 winner, is now working as the resident DJ at Portmore’s new ‘hot spot’ Blaze Night Club.
Another former winner, DJ Slim, is a resident DJ at Jungle Night Club in Negril while former semi- finalist DJ Diamond was recently drafted by ZIP FM.
Heineken’s brand manager, Keri-Ann McKenzie, says she is pleased with the part that Heineken has been playing in providing an avenue for these DJs to realise their dreams.
“Heineken Green Synergy has been working in providing exposure and experience and allowing these DJs to start their careers both on radio as well as gigs right across the island,” she said.
“We see our DJs playing at the top events such as Good Times and Smirnoff Dream Weekend for example as well as top international events. They have taken on a life from being an amateur to becoming professionals. Heineken Green Synergy has provided that fundamental building block for their career.”
DJ Jagga, apart from being a hit on Bess FM, has been burning up the party scene. “Without a doubt I have benefited from Heineken Green Synergy,” he said. “My career has taken off so to speak because I am now getting crazy dates. I thank Heineken for giving me that opportunity to really launch my career.”
For the 2010 season, Heineken Green Synergy will be even more intense and exciting in its new form as a reality TV show which is being hosted by the ‘certified diva’, Tami Chynn. Added to the excitement is a surprise international guest judge whose introduction on the show will be just ‘unbelievable’.
The well-anticipated show begins airing on TVJ on Friday, August 20, 2010.
Heineken Green Synergy is co-sponsored by Claro, TVJ, FAME FM, Jamaica Observer and Doritos.
