DIY Daybed
We continue creating our outdoor room this week with a cosy daybed. The bed was one we already had that was easy to move about because it’s on casters, and one which we inherited from the bedroom because there was an upgrade in that room. A queen-size bed is actually quite deep for sitting, but is perfect for lounging in, so to address both issues, simply fill the bed with lots and lots of pillows. Pillows lessen the depth of the bed so it can be used for seating and pillows are great for cosying up in your daybed with a book or for a nap.
To create the daybed, we first covered it snugly in a soft chenille fabric, and then we made quite a few pillows in different sizes that we covered in different coordinating patterns. We chose soft ultra-suede and cottons to make the daybed both cool and comfortable for lounging.
This was a quick and easy project because the cushions were simple squares; we made our cushions from scratch but you can buy ready-made pillows and make your covers to fit. A great tip is also to make some of the cushions reversible so you can get different looks from the same cushions.
Have fun with this one because you’ll be creating a space that will definitely be used and that’ll add value to your living space.
